| Game Day Position Organizer |
|
Youth baseball is all about developing the kids and letting them experience the game. As a coach, besides making sure the kids are under control on the bench, you also have many items to keep track of. Along with pitch counts, many leagues also have restrictions on number of innings played at the same position and minimum innings to be played. This form was developed for my first year of coaching minor leagues where playing, not winning, was most important. In this league, no scores were "officially" kept and everyone batted. Statistics didn't matter so the scorebook wasn't needed, (though I did try and give it to one of the interested parents for their own participation and amusement). The Game Organizer really helped me keep track of things on the field. How many innings at the same position, how many times Little Johnny sat down, what innings they played what positions. What happens on the bench is another story. Hope it helps you keep thing in order. Also, use it to help enter data into pitchcount.net. In the fielding section, positions are listed across the top. Simply fill in the inning for the player and position match. In the example below: The First inning, Joe (#13) led off and played first base, Matt was the DH (aka a kinder and gentler "sat out"), Brandon also was a DH, Cameron played shortstop and Joe (#2) played shortstop and so on. This sheet also helps you keep track of who sat out and keep things "equal" in the event that there are any questions.
In the Pitching section, just enter your tally per player per inning. Keep the opposition counts in needed. Also there is a handy scoreboard so when the kids ask "Are we winning?" you'll have something. Compile a season of all innings by position and all pitches by inning for all your kids. This form also organizes entries into Pitchcount.net |
